Bai Receives Research and Creative Achievement Award

Electrical Engineering Professor Kevin Bai received an Excellence in Research and Creative Achievement award at the University of Tennessee Academic Honors Banquet, which was held on April 21 in the UT Student Union. 

The award honors tenured faculty members who have received national and/or international recognition in their field to stimulate research and creative achievement, and to emphasize that faculty research and creative achievement are integral to the mission of UT. 

EECS Assistant Professor Catherine Schuman and Master Advisor Joanna Rathbone were also honored, with Schuman receiving the Professional Promise in Research and Creative Achievement award and Rathbone receiving the Excellence in Advising Award.

Kevin Bai

Bai, a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors and a five-year member of the Stanford World Top 2% Scientists list, received a $3,000 monetary award and a plaque. 

Bai has performed decades of research on improving electric vehicle drive and charging systems. Since joining the UT faculty in 2018, he has received the EECS Gonzalez Family Award for Excellence in Teaching, the TCE Translational Award, the EECS Gonzalez Family Award for Excellence in Research, the TCE Award for Teaching Fellow, and the TCE Research Achievement Award.
