Reina Ortega came to the Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science on October 10, taking on the role of administrative associate II and front office manager.
Ortega coordinates and compiles the department academic timetables each semester, and she also schedules classrooms for the timetables. Along with her scheduling duties, Ortega assists undergraduate students with course schedules, exceptions, and advising appointments. She also records meeting minutes for faculty meetings, and she coordinates department events throughout the year.
“UT is such a great place to work, everyone is so friendly and willing to help you with anything,” said Ortega. “I love the diversity that UT brings to my life.”
Before starting her role at UT, Ortega worked as a social impact accelerator for Radical Partners in Miami. She decided to move to UT to embrace a challenge in her professional career. She also loves the Volunteer Spirit, and she wanted to be a part of the culture here at UT.
She loves creating relationships with people from around the world and learning from their cultures, which has allowed her to grow more and more every day.
In her free time, Ortega enjoys volunteering, reading, cooking, and doing outdoor activities with her dog, Loki.
