On January 3, the Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science welcomed Michelle Champ to its business office as accounting specialist II. Champ’s responsibilities include accounts payable, miscellaneous reimbursements and travel for last names A-L, purchasing card reconciliations, and gift card approvals.
“My husband and I vacationed close to Gatlinburg about three years ago, and we fell in love with the mountain view, ” said Champ.
Prior to her role with EECS, Champ worked as an accountant for the Ecology Department at UT. Before that, she worked as an accountant for the School District of Osceola County, Florida, for 36 years. She retired at the age of 55, but since she hadn’t reached full retirement age, she decided to move to Knoxville to work on a second retirement pension with UT.
Champ spent most of her life in Kissimmee, Florida before moving to Knoxville. She enjoys her work at UT and its beautiful campus. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, vacationing, swimming, fishing, and boating.
