Electrical Engineering and Computer Science professor Gregory Peterson has been named a program director at the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Gregory Peterson is named program director of the Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research & Graduate Education Data Science & Engineering graduate program.

UT Professor Leon Tolbert will become interim department head for the Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, effective June 1.

A project involving EECS Department Head Greg Peterson, joint Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) faculty member Edmon Begoli, and doctoral student Maria Mahbub aims to improve machine reading comprehension for medical visits, using computer-assisted “reading comprehension” to help machines quickly scan medical documents and extract critical data.
