Tickle College of Engineering Professor Michela Taufer has been chosen to moderate a featured panel on data democratization, at the March 8 Women in Data Science conference at Stanford University.

Finding accurate neural networks for a specific scientific dataset or particular problem requires searching among thousands of neural networks on a large number of high-performance computing (HPC) resources. That could soon change thanks to research in HPC and AI being led by Michela Taufer.

A project led by Dongarra Professor Michela Taufer reaches across disciplines to design and build a software system based on data that can predict soil moisture at levels necessary to help support agriculture and hydrology.

Michela Taufer, ACM Distinguished Scientist and Dongarra Professor in High Performance Computing, was selected in December to receive a 2021 IBM Faculty Award. The award recognizes the research of Taufer’s group, the Global Computing Laboratory (GCLab), which focuses on various aspects of High Performance Computing (HPC) and its application to the sciences.
