Assistant Professor Ahmedullah Aziz has been selected to receive the 2026 Outstanding Mid-Career Teaching Award from the American Society for Engineering Education Southeastern Section (ASEE-SE).
The award is intended to recognize faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to engineering or engineering technology education through outstanding classroom performance.
Aziz will be presented with a certificate and a cash prize during the ASEE-SE 2026 Conference awards banquet on March 9th at the University of Memphis.
“This award is incredibly meaningful to me because it affirms the impact we can have as educators beyond the classroom,” said Aziz, who joined the Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2019. “My goal has always been to create an environment where students feel challenged, supported, and inspired to think creatively and rigorously. Seeing students grow in confidence and capability is the most rewarding part of my career, and I am grateful to be recognized for something I care so deeply about.”
Aziz’s research centers on device–circuit co-design, compact modeling, and electronic design automation for emerging nanoelectronic technologies, with emphasis on superconducting and cryogenic computing systems. His work advances scalable and energy-efficient hardware for quantum technologies, artificial intelligence, and advanced sensing.
Aziz has authored over 100 publications and holds multiple patents. His contributions have been recognized with honors including the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 (Asia Pacific), the ASEE New Faculty Researcher Award, the ACM SIGDA Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award, and university-level distinctions such as the Chancellor’s Innovation Award, Translational Research Award, and Teaching Fellow Award.
